AI feedback is advisory and may be incomplete or incorrect. WeldGrade does not certify welds or welders. Instructor/program review remains the final authority.

How WeldGrade uses AI

  • Providing training feedback, visual observations, rubric support, and troubleshooting suggestions.
  • Helping students compare what they see in their own welds with AI suggestions as a learning exercise.
  • Assisting instructors during review — never replacing their judgment.

AI output is advisory

  • AI does not make final acceptance or certification decisions.
  • AI can make mistakes and can miss defects that a trained instructor would catch.
  • Instructor, program, and CWI judgment controls.

Third-party AI providers

Uploaded weld images and submission details may be sent to third-party AI providers to generate the specific review requested by the user. This operational use is required to provide the service you asked for.

Operational AI use vs. AI training

Operational AI use — generating your review — is separate from AI training or model improvement. By default, WeldGrade does not use identifiable student or pilot data to train AI models. Future AI training or model improvement use requires separate opt-in consent. See AI Training Consent.
