AI Training & Model Improvement Consent

Last updated: July 2026

AI training and model improvement is off by default for every WeldGrade account. Users and institutions can opt in separately.

What consent may cover

Opt-in consent may cover:

  • De-identified weld photos
  • AI feedback
  • Instructor corrections
  • Defect labels
  • Rubric outcomes

What WeldGrade should not use

WeldGrade should not use names, emails, student IDs, class rosters, or school identifiers in training datasets.

Human review

Human review of samples may occur only if consented to and disclosed.

Withdrawing consent

Consent can be withdrawn for future use at any time from your Profile settings or by contacting info@weldgrade.com. Withdrawal may not remove data already incorporated into aggregate or de-identified model evaluation unless technically feasible.

School and class pilots

School and class pilot data is not eligible for model training by default. Institution-wide opt-in requires a separate, written agreement with the institution.
